Antique Reproduction Furniture- Advocate's chair

St Augustine's Armchair from 'St Augustine in his Study' (1502-8) by Vittore Carpaccio (1460 - 1523)

This chair recaptures the ancient curule chairs of Rome used by Magistrates in the 15th century.  It led to the design of the medieval x-chair.  There is one surviving chair from 15th century Venice, striking in similarity, kept at the Palazzo Morando, Milan.

This chair has featured in several magazine and newspaper articles and is one of Michael's favourite works.

Monks' Settle

Loving many styles Michael completed this piece finished in oak for a client who desired something with a hint of ancient times.  The settle has Gothic panels and a hidden storage area under the seat lid; just the thing for storage in a hallway.

Michael was approached by a client with a love of libraries and things associated.  Producing a book of Victorian library rooms he asked Michael to fashion this chair from a picture within to complete his own room.
